Low-voltage 6300A switchgear is relatively common and widely used in high-load industrial applications, as well as on ships and offshore oil platforms. Foreign brands offer naturally air-cooled options, while domestic brands typically use fan-cooled low-voltage switchgear. These switchgear are generally wider than 1.4 meters and use multiple copper busbars arranged in groups.
Similarly, medium-voltage 6000A/63kA switchgear is generally used in gas turbine generators, steam turbine generators, hydroelectric generators, geothermal generators, wind farm generators, diesel generators, and power distribution. Due to insulation withstand voltage limitations, it is difficult to use multiple copper busbars in medium-voltage switchgear; generally, single large-size copper busbars are used, such as three 10×200mm copper busbars, rather than the 12 40×10mm copper busbars used in low-voltage switchgear. Furthermore, the temperature rise of the primary isolating contacts in withdrawable circuit breakers is very high, making it difficult to reduce the temperature rise using multiple sets of contacts per phase as in low-voltage frame circuit breakers, thus making it difficult to control the temperature rise below the upper limit.
To meet the application requirements of medium-voltage 6000A switchgear, increasing the width and depth of the switchgear is an effective measure. Larger switchgear provides more internal space and greater phase-to-phase spacing, reducing the mutual influence of eddy currents and electromagnetic fields.
The 17.5kV 6000A withdrawable switchgear has a width of 1829mm, a depth of 3658mm, and a height of 2734mm, occupying twice the floor space of a typical 4000A switchgear.
The switchgear features metal isolation for the low-voltage, main busbar, circuit breaker, and feeder sections.
Fully insulated copper busbars with silver-plated connectors.

The equipment has a maximum operating voltage of 17.5kV and a rated current of 4000~5000A, using natural air cooling, and 5600~6000A, using forced air cooling. Its lightning impulse withstand voltage is 95kV, short-circuit breaking current is 63kA, making current is 160kA, DC component is 75%, breaking time is 3 cycles, and initial polarity factor is 1.5.
